Who we are

About the Kenya Bioimaging Consortium

KBIC aims to enhance life science research in Kenya by promoting the integration and use of advanced bioimaging technologies.

Given that microscopy and imaging are essential in modern science, KBIC strives to create a robust environment where scientists can use modern equipment, specialised knowledge, and collaborate.

To enhance research capacity, KBIC focuses on three key areas: developing skills, providing technology, and sharing knowledge. The consortium helps scientists in biomedical, agricultural, environmental and related fields access the tools and methods they need to study and interpret complex systems that require image analysis.

KBIC develops imaging science in Kenya by uniting microscopists, biologists, chemists, physicists and data scientists through a community-minded, open-door approach. It supports individual working groups and institutions with scientific knowledge, and helps meet national research priorities such as public health, food supply, biodiversity and industrial innovation.
